👋 Farewell Mr. Maffucci 👋

Last week, Bradford honored our beloved custodian Mr. Maffucci with an all-school assembly celebrating his three decades of service to the school and sending him into retirement in style. Thank you Mr. Maffucci and congratulations!

🗳 Mail-in Ballot for 3/10 Election 🗳

The Montclair Board of Education Special Election will be held on March 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If those hours are not convenient to you and you would like to vote by mail, you must submit an application by March 3rd. The application is available here, and you can learn more about how to vote by mail here. Key tips:

  • If you print the form at home, you can mail your application in a regular envelope but need to address it and add postage.
  • If you vote by mail in every election, you automatically receive a ballot in the mail.
  • If you’ve requested a mail-in ballot before and you checked off “all future elections” then you are all set!
  • If you requested a mail-in ballot for December 9 and did NOT include “all future elections” you must request a new mail-in ballot for March 10.

All schools will follow an abbreviated day schedule. Aftercare will be available as usual on this day for those who are enrolled.

  • Wondering what the financial impact would be on your tax bill? Visit Montclair Local’s calculator.
  • Interested in what we can expect to be cut in each voting scenario? At the February 25th BOE meeting, the superintendent is expected to provide more details on what will likely be cut in the individual voting scenarios. As a reminder, it has previously been shared that:
    • If both questions pass, the district will need to make $3.6M in cuts.
    • If both questions fail, the district will need to make $10.6M in cuts.
    • As a point of comparison, the cuts in January totaled $2.8M.
  • For more information, check out the district’s updated FAQ, or attend any of the following upcoming events:
    • 2/18: Budget Town Hall (virtual) – link TBD
    • 2/25: Board of Education Meeting (in-person & virtual) – George Innes Annex Atrium

💻 Digital Life Town Hall 💻

Dear Montclair Families, Caregivers, School Staff, and Community Members,

From Chromebooks to cell phones, social media to screen time, today’s students are navigating a digital world that’s changing faster than most of us can keep up with.

That’s why the Montclair PTA Council’s Digital Life Committee is hosting a Virtual Town Hall — a discovery session where we’ll listen, learn, and begin a conversation about how to best support students in our rapidly evolving digital landscape.

📅 Monday, February 23

⏰ 8:00 PM

This event, which we plan to be the first in a series, is open to all — whether you’re a parent of a kindergartener or a high school senior, a teacher, an administrator, or a concerned community member.

What to Expect:

  • A brief overview of the technologies students are using in school and how they’re being used
  • An opportunity to share your concerns and experiences in open conversation
  • Breakout discussions by topic or school level
  • Community input that will help shape future Digital Life workshops and resources

We hope you’ll join us as we work together to create a safer, healthier, and more informed digital environment for our students.
