PTA Newsletter – Week of 3/16

📚 3/18 Last Day for Bradford Read-a-Thon 📚

The students have been dominating this year’s Read-a-Thon and blew past the school-wide reading minutes goal of 150,000 minutes hitting 186,000 minutes read last night and earning an All-School No Homework Pass on a date to be picked by Dr. Sedita – well done readers!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18th is the last day to log minutes so don’t forget to enter those last minutes before bedtime. Read-a-thon is also our biggest PTA fundraiser of the year so keep sharing those pages – there’s still time to join in the fun and affect the outcome even if you sign-up today. We love seeing all the encouraging notes from family and friends and truly appreciate the entire community’s support.

🌸 Bradford Welcomes Spring 🌸

Bradford’s 5th Colorful Spring Celebration will be held during school on Friday, April 10th! For the past 5 years, we have joyfully celebrated Holi, marking the arrival of spring with vibrant powdered colors. To ensure inclusivity and equity, last year Bradford embraced a broader celebration that honors the many cultures that welcome the season of renewal, now called the “Colorful Spring Celebration.” While the name has evolved, the spirit of the event remains the same—we will continue the throwing of bright, festive colors in powder form, having an incredible time with our Bradford community. More details and information on how to volunteer to follow!

🏆 The Weston Awards 🏆

MFEE is calling for nominations for the 2026 Judy Weston Awards for Inspired Teaching! Now administered by MFEE, the awards were established by Josh and Judy Weston in 1991 to acknowledge and celebrate Montclair Public Schools teachers. The awards honor both master teachers and those on their way to achieving that status. Inspired teaching combines a range of skills across several core areas. Ultimately, it excites students to learn, helps them feel valued, and responds to their individual needs and strengths.

Last year, MFEE received more than 300 nominations, and 17 honorees won $2,000 each. All parents/guardians of current Montclair Public Schools students, current MPS students, and recent alumni, are encouraged to nominate teachers or a counselor. Nomination due by 4/12.
